El grupo de Ciencia de Materiales del Instituto de Ciencias Físicas –UNAM cuenta con una amplia gama de equipos para caracterización de materiales de tecnología avanzada, el cual se encuentra disponible para brindar servicios a la academia y a la industria privada de todo el país.

MICROSCOPÍA ELECTRÓNICA DE BARRIDO (SEM/EDS/XRF)

El microscopio electrónico JEOL© JSM-IT500 tiene acoplado un detector Bruker© XFlash 6|30 y una fuente de rayos XBruker© Xtrace, combinación con la cual pueden realizarse microanálisis químicos con mayor rapidez que otros microscopios de un modelo inferior, lo cual trae como consecuencia el análisis de un mayor número de muestras por hora de servicio.

DIFRACCIÓN DE RAYOS X EN POLVOS (XRD)

El laboratorio cuenta con un difractómetro Bruker©D8 Advance Eco con el que es posible implementar de manera eficiente la técnica de difracción de rayos X, la cual permite el análisis estructural de materiales cristalinos, incluido el arreglo atómico, el tamaño de los cristales, su orientación preferencial, etc.

ESPECTROSCOPÍA INFRARROJA POR TRANSFORMADA DE FOURIER (FTIR)

El espectrómetro FTIR Nicolet Is 10 tiene un intervalo espectral que va de 7800 a 350 cm^-1, con una resolución de 0.4 número de onda espectral. Con este instrumento es posible revelar la composición de sólidos y líquidos. El uso más común es la identificación de materiales desconocidos y la confirmación de materiales de producción (entrantes o salientes). El contenido de la información es muy específico en la mayoría de los casos, lo que permite una discriminación fina entre materiales similares. La velocidad del análisis FTIR lo hace particularmente útil en aplicaciones de detección, mientras que la sensibilidad potencia muchas aplicaciones de investigación avanzada. El equipo cuenta con el aditamento ATR que minimiza la preparación de muestras y eficientiza el procesamiento de datos, así como de muestras por hora.

Algunas de las aplicaciones más comunes son:

• Verificación de calidad de materiales entrantes / salientes
• Microanálisis de pequeñas secciones de materiales para identificar contaminantes

ANÁLISIS TERMOGRAVIMÉTRICO SIMULTANEO (TGA/DSC)

La termobalanza STA PT 1600 permite realizar análisis simultáneos (TG + DSC) con alta resolución manteniendo una estabilidad incluso en condiciones de vacío y flujo de gases. El barrido de temperaturas puede realizarse desde la temperatura ambiente hasta 1500°C, y se cuenta con la mayoría de los accesorios para garantizar la configuración perfecta para cada aplicación.
