WriteVelocity

Back to parameter list

Normally, hydrodynamic variables are written at each output in the output directory (see OutputDir) with an extension that specifies the output number. For instance, the initial velocity field is written in 'gasvrad0.dat' and 'gasvtheta0.dat', then the first output is written in 'gasvrad1.dat' and 'gasvtheta1.dat', etc. If one sets WriteVelocity  to NO or to FALSE, all velocity outputs are written to 'gasvrad0.dat' and 'gasvtheta0.dat', which are thus overwritten at each output. Therefore, setting this parameter to NO does not save disk writing time, but it may be useful in case of low disk quota, or when one is not interested in the velocity field. Also, having the hydrodynamics fields of the last output always written to a file allows to perform a restart.
